List of independent journalists, media sites and podcasts from within the United States

Heather Cox Richardson

If you could follow only one source of information on the state of our union, in my opinion, this should be the one. Her historical perspective, and keen analysis of current events, is unparalleled. She is available on substack, Facebook and Youtube. In addition to daily summaries and analysis, she offers a live Q&A session each Tuesday and Thursday.

HCR

Adam Mockler

The guy is only twenty-three years old, but incredibly knowledgeable and insightful. He can be assessed on substack, Spotify and YouTube.

IHIP News

Jennifer Welch, Angie Sullivan and the crew of IHIP News Podcast can be credited for creating lively commentary on U.S. politics and events, with multiple episodes a day. In my opinion, on more than one occasion, their perspective and insight about current events have preceded the interpretation of their peers. Personally, I love the salty banter, but if you are put off by such things….

IHIP News

Timothy Snyder

Similar to Heather Cox Richardson, he comes armed with historical knowledge and insight specifically into the perils of fascism, both past and present. If you do not already have a copy of his book On Tyranny, originally published in 2017, consider ordering a copy. It is almost small enough to fit inside your pocket, but stuffed with relevant facts and insight.

Christina Talks Tea

Well, well, well…the first time I watched her on Youtube, I was sold on her lively, and yes, salty monologue, but don’t make the same mistake I made (initially). Besides being a lot of fun to watch, she provides insight and a point of view not always found on other podcasts.

Meidas Touch Network

Currently one of the largest independent media sites, assessable on their website listed below, as well as on Substack and Youtube. Their coverage is practically 24/7 and they have extended to Canada. They claim to “come with the receipts” and for the most part, I have found them reliable; however, in my opinion, they can be guilty of click bait and repetition, which I personally find annoying.

Joy Reid

Joy Reid is one of those ex-mainstream political commentators that chose to stick with integrity and truth. She can be found on substack, Facebook and other social media sites. Insightful.

Brian Tyler Cohen

Brian’s commentary is concise and to the point.

Lemon Media

Don Lemon is another “mainstream” journalist and political commentator that has chosen to provide truthful reporting. He can be found on Youtube, Spotify, and Substack.

Don Lemon

This list is certainly not exhaustive, and I welcome input on other sources of news and commentary from within the United States.

Politics Girl

Leigh McGowan offers a fast paced and unapologetic analysis of current events. In her own words, she is “working to save democracy through a no-nonsense, everywoman approach to understanding politics.” In this woman’s opinion, she nails it.
